Pakistan Government Acts to Resolve Wheat Price Concerns Raised by Farmers

Islamabad, In a concerted effort to address concerns over wheat prices raised by farmers, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar has affirmed the government’s commitment to stabilizing the market and responding to agricultural sector grievances.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a session in the Senate, Minister Tarar expressed confidence that wheat prices would stabilize soon through ongoing governmental measures. He outlined the steps being taken, including active consultations between the federal government and the Punjab Government, underscoring agriculture’s critical role in Pakistan’s economy.

Further detailing the government’s response, Tarar mentioned that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has established a daily-operating special committee aimed at addressing this issue directly. He also noted that a cabinet-level discussion had taken place, during which the Prime Minister ordered an inquiry into the unnecessary importation of wheat despite adequate domestic supplies.

The Senate is set to reconvene tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. to continue discussions on this and other national matters.
