Pakistan Government Enhances Support for Agriculture, Announces Subsidy Increase

Islamabad, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Azam Nazeer Tarar outlined a series of new government initiatives aimed at boosting the agricultural sector during the Question Hour in the National Assembly. These measures are designed to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability, contributing significantly to the nation’s GDP and employment.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Tarar emphasized the strategic importance of agriculture in Pakistan’s economy, noting its role in providing food security and generating employment. He announced that the government has procured 1.8 million metric tons of wheat from farmers and plans to increase subsidies for farmers by up to 40% in the upcoming budget. Additionally, provincial governments are encouraged to announce their own support packages, all part of a broader effort to strengthen this vital sector.
