Pakistan Issues Demarche to Afghanistan Following Deadly Attack on Bannu Cantonment

Islamabad: In a strong diplomatic move, Pakistan has issued a demarche to Afghanistan over a terror attack on Bannu Cantonment, which resulted in the death of eight security personnel and injured several others last Monday.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Deputy Head of Mission of the Afghan Embassy in Islamabad was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to convey Pakistan’s grave concerns. The attack, attributed to the Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group based in Afghanistan, also involved the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, both of which have been linked to numerous deadly attacks in Pakistan.

Pakistan urged the Interim Afghan Government to conduct a thorough investigation and take swift and effective measures to apprehend the perpetrators and prevent future incidents. The continuation of such attacks not only threatens Pakistan’s security but also undermines the bilateral relations between the two nations.

This incident underscores the persistent threat of terrorism in the region and reinforces Pakistan’s call for decisive international action against terrorism.
