Pakistan Marks Youm-e-Takbeer with National Commemorations

Islamabad, Pakistan celebrated Youm-e-Takbeer with a public holiday and nationwide events to commemorate the country’s historical nuclear tests conducted 26 years ago. The day started with special prayers in mosques for the peace and prosperity of the nation, reflecting on a pivotal moment in Pakistan’s defense history.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, special Quran Khawani and prayers were held across the country in honor of the day when Pakistan conducted nuclear tests in 1998, responding to India’s nuclear explosions. The tests, carried out under the leadership of then-Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, were a strategic move to establish a credible minimum deterrence and restore regional power balance, despite international pressure.

The observance of Youm-e-Takbeer not only celebrates Pakistan’s nuclear capability but also serves as a reminder of the country’s resolve to maintain its sovereignty and security amidst external challenges.
