Pakistan Seeks to Strengthen Trade and Connectivity with Kazakhstan: PM

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed Pakistan’s keen desire in enhancing bilateral trade, investment, connectivity through air, rail and road, and people-to-people exchanges with Kazakhstan. He was speaking to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu, who is currently visiting Islamabad with a ministerial delegation.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister warmly welcomed the Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and conveyed his best wishes for President Kassym Jomart-Tokayev, whom he had recently met in China. He emphasized the strong fraternal relations between Pakistan and Kazakhstan and the mutual desire to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in various areas of shared interest.

The Prime Minister highlighted Pakistan’s significant interest in the visit of the Kazakh President and proposed sending a delegation to Astana to finalize multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements currently under consideration.

The two countries have been engaged in regular discussions over the past several months and are expected to sign key MoUs and agreements during the upcoming visit of the Kazakh President to Pakistan later this year.

Murat Nurtleu expressed gratitude to Shehbaz Sharif for the hospitality extended to him and shared details of his earlier discussions with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. He underscored that the forthcoming visit of President Kassym Jomart-Tokayev to Islamabad would be historic and successful, marking the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in Pakistan-Kazakhstan relations.
