Pakistan slams UN report for not recording plight of occupied Palestinian, Kashmiri children

Islamabad, July 06, 2023 (PPI-OT): Pakistan has criticized the United Nations for not listing the two blatant situations of foreign occupation perpetrated by Israel and India, in its report on ‘Children and Armed Conflict’. Speaking in the UN Security Council, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram highlighting the immense suffering of children under foreign occupation called the omission most visible anomaly in the document.

Specifically referring to suppression of children of Jammu and Kashmir by Indian forces, he said an entire generation of Kashmiri children has grown up in a climate of unspeakable fear and violence that has further aggravated since 05 August 2019, when India unilaterally annexed occupied disputed territory. Ambassador Akram said an estimated 13,000 Kashmiri youth have been captured by India’s 900,000 forces, while thousands of innocent Kashmiris have been killed in staged search operations to extract confessions not to participate in Kashmir’s struggle for self-determination.
