Pakistan to Use Local Coal for Power Generation, Aiming for Economic Stability

Islamabad, In a strategic move to lower electricity costs and reduce import dependency, Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Laghari has initiated the process of transitioning the country’s power plants from imported to local coal sources.

According to Press Information Department, Minister Laghari led discussions on leveraging Pakistan’s coal reserves to produce cost-effective electricity, a shift that promises to lessen the financial load on consumers and cut down the national import bill. This decision is part of a broader government effort to enhance energy self-sufficiency and economic stability.

The plan involves a comprehensive strategy that includes stakeholder engagement to ensure a seamless transition to local coal usage.
