Pakistani Embassy in Bishkek Actively Assisting Nationals After Mob Violence

Bishkek, Following recent mob violence in Bishkek, the Pakistani Embassy, led by Ambassador Hassan Zaigham, is taking significant steps to address the concerns and safety of Pakistani students and other nationals in the Kyrgyz Republic.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ambassador Zaigham released a video statement detailing the embassy’s efforts to support affected Pakistani citizens. He noted that the mission has fielded over five hundred calls through emergency lines set up for nationals in distress. The Ambassador highlighted incidents where local extremist groups targeted hostels and residences occupied by international students, including Pakistanis.

The Kyrgyz government has reported that fourteen foreigners sustained injuries during the unrest. Among them, a Pakistani student named Shahzaib is currently under medical care at the Kyrgyz National Hospital and is reported to be out of danger. Kyrgyz authorities have launched an investigation into the violence, resulting in the detention of several suspects.

Ambassador Zaigham also cautioned the Pakistani community in Kyrgyzstan against falling for misinformation spread on social media. He stressed the importance of contacting the embassy directly through the provided emergency numbers for accurate information and assistance.
