Washington D.C., Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Masood Khan, engaged in a series of important discussions with key U.S. Congress members this week to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation in various sectors, including trade, security, and sustainable development.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ambassador Khan met with Congressman Jake LaTurner, who serves on the House Committees on Appropriations and Oversight. Their dialogue focused on strengthening Pak-US ties through enhanced trade, investment in renewable energy, climate change initiatives, and cooperation in education, security, counter-terrorism, and defense.
In a subsequent meeting with Congressman Mike Turner, Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, the discussions delved into bolstering defense, security, and counter-terrorism cooperation between Pakistan and the U.S. Both parties agreed to continue engagement to diversify and deepen their broad-based relationship.
Ambassador Khan also held talks with Congressman Chuck Edwards, a member of the House Appropriations Committee and the Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs (SFOPS). Their conversation centered on the crucial role of an enhanced economic partnership in achieving mutual goals of inclusive growth and sustainable development.
These meetings underscore a concerted effort by Pakistan to reaffirm and expand its strategic and economic relationships with the United States, reflecting a commitment to shared objectives and international cooperation.
