Pakistan’s Army Chief Vows to Eradicate Terrorism with National Support

Islamabad, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir has reaffirmed the armed forces’ commitment, with the support of the nation, to eradicate terrorism permanently from Pakistan. This statement was made during the Corps Commanders’ Conference held at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, General Munir directed military commanders to proactively prevent any opportunities for terrorist activities within the country. The conference also paid homage to the supreme sacrifices made by the officers, personnel of the armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and citizens who have died in the pursuit of peace and stability in Pakistan.

The Army Chief lauded the efforts of the Pakistan Army and law enforcement agencies in thwarting numerous terrorist attacks and neutralizing key terrorist commanders during ongoing counterterrorism operations. The forum also addressed the broader regional security challenges, including the threat from terrorist groups operating from Afghanistan and their impact on regional and global security, particularly concerning their roles as proxies against Pakistan and its economic interests, such as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Additionally, the conference condemned recent terrorist attacks against Chinese nationals in Besham and the killings of civilians in Balochistan. Concerns were also raised about ongoing Indian aggression in Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, with Pakistan reiterating its support for the Kashmiri people.

The forum expressed solidarity with the people of Palestine, condemning the human rights violations and acts of genocide in Gaza, and voiced apprehension over escalating tensions in the Middle East that could lead to wider regional conflict.

Discussions also highlighted the negative impact of what was described as a malicious propaganda campaign aimed at demoralizing the armed forces. The forum resolved to counter such efforts and ensure strict actions in accordance with the law and constitution.

General Munir underscored the military’s support for the government’s efforts toward sustainable socioeconomic growth, including tackling issues like smuggling, hoarding, and electricity theft. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the highest standards of operational preparedness and encouraged commanders to continue striving for professional excellence through objective training.
