Islamabad, In a major step aimed at revamping its tax collection system, the Pakistani government, led by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, has underscored digital transformation as a pivotal strategy for economic growth. This initiative follows the recent contract signing with the global consulting firm McKinsey and Company to digitize the tax system.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the high-level meeting held in Islamabad was attended by key figures including the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana, officials from the Ministry of Finance, and representatives from Karandaaz Pakistan. The meeting focused on the implementation of the new digital system, which is expected to improve transparency and efficiency in tax collection.
FBR’s Chairman Tiwana highlighted the transformative potential of leveraging technology in modernizing operations and enhancing revenue collection. Additionally, CEO Waqas ul Hasan of Karandaaz Pakistan expressed confidence that the partnership with McKinsey would significantly aid the FBR in achieving its digital strategy goals. He also acknowledged the financial support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which he noted was crucial for the project’s success.
