Pakistan’s Prime Minister Woos French Investment Amid Diplomatic Talks

Karachi, In Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with the French Ambassador Nicolas Galey, extending an invitation to French firms to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan. The meeting highlighted a mutual interest in deepening trade and investment ties, with both nations keen to revive and strengthen their bilateral relationship.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the discussions covered a range of topics, including economic stabilization, trade enhancement, and international cooperation. Prime Minister Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s focus on economic stability as a governmental priority and acknowledged the evolving dynamics of the Pakistan-France relationship, especially following past challenges.

Ambassador Galey delivered a congratulatory message from French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal to Sharif on his re-election, reinforcing the friendly exchanges between the two countries. Sharif, recalling past interactions with French President Emmanuel Macron, appreciated France’s supportive role in international forums, notably Macron’s participation in the Geneva Conference on Resilient Pakistan.

Further, the Prime Minister reiterated an invitation to President Macron for an official visit to Pakistan, aiming to cement the diplomatic and economic connections between the two nations. Discussions also touched on global and regional issues, including the situations in Gaza and Afghanistan.

The upcoming visit by a French delegation to Pakistan was highlighted as an important step towards enhancing bilateral cooperation, with both sides expressing a keen interest in engaging more deeply, both bilaterally and in multilateral settings like the United Nations.
