PDM urges Nawaz to work for early Kashmir resolution

Jammu, May 16, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM), while extending heartiest congratulations to Mian Nawaz Sharif on his historic victory in general elections, has urged him to work for an early resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiris.

A meeting of the PDM held under the chairmanship of Mir Shahid Saleem, congratulated the people of Pakistan for showing exemplary courage and participating overwhelmingly in general elections. The PDM Chairman said Pakistan’s economy and stability must be the prime concerns for the newly elected dispensation.

He said that a democratic, stable and economically vibrant Pakistan could play a more effective role in socio-political affairs of the region. He hoped that being a seasoned and a mature statesman the Pakistani nations has pinned high hopes on the Nawaz Sharief.

Mir Shahid Saleem said that being an important party to the Kashmir dispute Pakistan had got a principal role to play for the peaceful settlement of six decades long dispute. He said people of Kashmir have been making supreme sacrifices for the past more than 60 years to decide their political destiny. He called upon the governments of India and Pakistan to create a conducive atmosphere for the tripartite resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

He also called for the revocation of draconian laws from the Jammu and Kashmir and release of all political prisoners languishing in the jails of India and the occupied territory.

Among others Zahoor Ahmed, Tanvir Mirza, Shafiq Ahmed, Ghulam Ahmed and Muhammad Riaz spoke on the occasion.
