Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtoonkhaw Minister for Finance, Engr. Muhammad Humayun Khan has said that the people of Malakand have fought the war of integrity of this country during which they offered matchless sacrifices which would be written with golden words in the history and the Pakistani nation would never forgot these sacrifices of the people of Malakand.
He expressed these views while addressing as chief guest to a function held under the auspices of a local public organization HEAL Development Organization at Thana, District Malakand yesterday. During the function, the local people were given commendation certificates and shields in recognition of their services which they rendered for the welfare of the IDPs of Swat and other areas as a result of war against terrorism and floods. On this occasion, the function was also addressed by the Chairman Heal Development Organization Sultan Mehmood Advocate, Vice Chairman Hameedullah Khan Advocate, Prof. Muhammad Nawaz Tahir and others.
The Provincial Minister added that the people of Malakand have helped so generously from the core of their hearts which has no precedent in the country’s history adding that the devotion and zeal and zest of the people of Malakand have renewed the remembrance of Ansar-e-Madina.
Engr. Humayun said that the present government took reign of the government in a very difficult time and situation as there was complete rule of terrorists, revolt like situation everywhere and even the writ of the government was challenged. But the minister added that their leaders very sagaciously and with political foresightedness adopted a successful strategy against the terrorists with the help of people and succeeded in restoration of peace in the country.
He claimed that had the people of Malakand not helped in this war against the terrorists it was not only difficult for the government but even impossible to control this situation. He claimed the people of Malakand not only demonstrated the traditional love for the country and peace and supported the government steps but even kept open the doors of their homes for the IDPs and extended all possible help to them.
He while eulogizing the performance of the development organizations for running the Thana Relief Camp in a better way and provision of better services to the Swat IDPs, the Minister said that the office bearers of the organizations have provided best services to the IDPs in the camp and particularly hectic efforts for the distribution of relief goods in such a clean and fair way which is commendable and a role model for all other organizations to follow.
Later on, the Provincial Minister distributed commendation certificates and shields among those who showed best performance during services to Swat affectees. He also announced Rs. 3 million for the organization from his own pocket.
