Peshawar addresses exam disruptions due to adverse weather

Peshawar, Provincial Education Minister Faisal Khan Turkai announced the cancellation of matriculation exams scheduled for April 18, 19, and 20 in Chitral districts due to recent rains and floods, ensuring that affected students will not be disadvantaged. The announcement was made during a summit meeting of education boards, where comprehensive strategies for conducting exams transparently and securely across the province were also discussed.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister Turkai revealed that the cancelled exams in Chitral would be rescheduled, with new dates to be announced soon. Meanwhile, exams in other districts will proceed as planned without delays. The summit was attended by Secretary of Education Masood Ahmed, Additional Secretary Muhammad Zahid Khan, Director IT, and heads of all educational boards in the province.

The meeting also addressed the broader readiness for the upcoming exams. The education boards confirmed that examination papers had been timely delivered to banks for secure distribution to centers, and that comprehensive security and logistical arrangements were in place. Minister Turkai emphasized the support from district administrations and police to ensure smooth conduct of the exams and prevent any malpractice, including the use of technology and on-site monitoring to deter and address any incidents of cheating or paper leaks.

Furthermore, the Education Minister detailed additional measures for maintaining the integrity of the exam process, such as CCTV monitoring of examination centers and the establishment of a control room and hotline for real-time oversight and communication. He also directed the Director IT to ensure all technical arrangements for monitoring via IP address at the secretariat level were completed promptly.
