Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has directed the initiation of a reform process aimed at enhancing the performance of government ministries. During a meeting held in Islamabad on Friday, the Ministry of Power provided a comprehensive briefing on an expert-driven system designed to improve governance and implement necessary reforms.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister underscored the necessity of aligning Pakistan’s outdated systems with modern requirements to facilitate economic development. He highlighted that modernizing and digitizing the governance structure by replacing obsolete systems is a top priority for the government.
The Prime Minister stressed the need for engaging internationally renowned experts to drive systemic change across various ministries. He cited the Ministry of Power’s reforms, which have resulted in reduced losses and savings of billions for the national exchequer, as a model for other ministries to emulate.
A directive was issued by the Prime Minister to form a committee tasked with proposing the recruitment of a skilled workforce, aligning ministries with modern systems, and improving governance through targeted reforms. The committee is expected to finalize actionable proposals for the restructuring of other ministries and departments, taking into account the successful reforms implemented in the Ministry of Power.
