Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reached out to political leaders concerning the severe monsoon rains and flood situation affecting parts of Pakistan.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister spoke with Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, expressing his condolences over the loss of lives due to torrential rains and urban flooding in southern Sindh, particularly in Karachi. He offered the Sindh government full support from the federal government to manage the emergency effectively.
The Prime Minister instructed the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to maintain close communication with the Sindh government, assist the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), and ensure that the public receives timely alerts about potential hazards.
In addition, Shehbaz Sharif held phone conversations with Amir Jamaat-e-Islami, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, and Federal Minister for Education and Vocational Training, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui. During his discussion with Amir Jamaat-e-Islami, they addressed the damages caused by the recent rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the ongoing relief efforts. The Prime Minister praised the Al-Khidmat Foundation’s active involvement in rescue and relief operations.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister and Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui discussed the rain and flood situation in Sindh and the potential threats from anticipated rainfall. Shehbaz Sharif assured that the federal government, including NDMA and other relevant institutions, would provide full cooperation to manage any emergency situations that may arise.
