Political Activities Surge in Azad Jammu and Kashmir as Legislative Assembly Elections Approach

Muzaffarabad: Political activities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir are intensifying in connection with the upcoming elections for the AJK Legislative Assembly, as conspiracies of the banned Action Committee fail. Citizens of Azad Kashmir are actively participating in the political process while rejecting the agenda of undemocratic and mischief-making elements, reflecting growing public engagement in the democratic process.

According to Radio Pakistan, Chief Election Commissioner Azad Kashmir Retired Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal stated that the Election Commission has completed all necessary arrangements, and a large number of candidates are submitting nomination papers across the region. Secretary Election Commission Azad Kashmir, Raja Shakeel Khan, reported that 518 candidates have submitted nomination papers so far, and the process will continue until Tuesday. He added that Returning Officers are also available on holidays to facilitate candidates.

Former Finance Minister Azad Kashmir Majid Khan noted that a large number of people will also participate in the elections on refugee seats, describing it as a positive and encouraging development. The increasing electoral activity in Azad Kashmir sends a clear message that the public has rejected the negative and undemocratic stance of the banned Action Committee, and that people continue to place full confidence in the state institutions and their elected representatives.
