Prime Minister Directs Action Against Officials Over Flaws in Track and Trace System

Islamabad, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has ordered strict departmental proceedings against officials found negligent in an inquiry into the enforcement of the Federal Board of Revenue’s Track and Trace System. This system, essential for monitoring various industries, has reportedly suffered from significant mismanagement, leading to economic losses.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a high-level meeting, the Prime Minister criticized the faulty planning and poor enforcement of the system, which was designed to oversee production in the cigarette, fertilizer, sugar, and cement industries. It was also intended to curb the circulation of counterfeit products and end smuggling activities. The shortcomings in its implementation have, per the Prime Minister’s observation, adversely impacted the national economy.
