Prime Minister Sharif Directs NDMA to Enhance Safety Measures During Torrential Rains

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued directives to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to implement urgent safety measures to protect the lives and property of citizens due to ongoing heavy rainfall across the country. The Prime Minister’s instructions emphasize the need for coordinated efforts to manage the emergency situations arising in various regions.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Sharif has instructed the NDMA to assist the four provincial governments, as well as the administrations of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, in their emergency responses. He specifically called for immediate actions from the Islamabad administration to manage water drainage and facilitate public mobility during the rains.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of inter-departmental coordination and continuous monitoring of the situation. He highlighted the necessity of timely evacuations from flood-prone areas, the provision of adequate water pumps and machinery for effective water drainage, and ensuring that medical treatment is readily available to those affected by the rains.
