Prime Minister Sharif Orders Accelerated Dissolution of Pakistan Public Works Department

Islamabad, In a significant move to streamline government operations, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the swift dissolution of the Pakistan Public Works Department (PWD), citing its financial burden on the nation’s economy. He emphasized the importance of completing ongoing projects through federal and provincial departments and hiring private companies for future government construction and repair.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a high-level meeting, Prime Minister Sharif outlined that the interests of PWD employees must be safeguarded throughout the dissolution process. He also announced the formation of an asset management company to handle the assets of the dissolved department and stressed the need for the full digitization of PWD’s asset records.
