Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Calls for Strengthened Pak-China Economic Ties

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for enhanced cooperation between Pakistan and China across multiple sectors, focusing on agriculture, mines and minerals, information technology, and infrastructure. In his address to foreign business representatives in Pakistan, including numerous Chinese business leaders, Sharif highlighted the strategic importance and the potential for deepened economic relationships.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister’s speech underscored the historic friendship between the two nations, describing it as “higher than the Himalayas” and continually reaching new heights. He expressed optimism about the large influx of Chinese investors keen on exploring new business opportunities within Pakistan. Sharif emphasized agriculture as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s economy, advocating for the expansion of value-added services and the modernization of agricultural practices. He revealed plans to send one thousand Pakistani students to China for training in modern agricultural techniques, aiming to boost Pakistan’s agricultural exports by seven billion dollars.

Highlighting the second phase of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Sharif mentioned that it would focus on Business-to-Business (B2B) collaborations in critical sectors like agriculture and IT. He encouraged company representatives to leverage these B2B opportunities to maximize benefits from the CPEC projects.
