Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Praises FBR for Exceeding May Tax Collection Goals

Islamabad, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has commended the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for surpassing its tax collection targets for May 2024, highlighting the significant growth in revenue that is crucial for the country’s economic stability and development.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the FBR collected Rs. 760 billion in May, exceeding the target of Rs. 745 billion. This achievement reflects a 31 percent increase in the overall tax collection rate and a 43 percent rise in domestic tax collections compared to the same period last year. The Prime Minister attributed this success to the diligent efforts of the FBR team and emphasized the importance of continued revenue growth to meet the government’s economic objectives.
