Islamabad, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the promotion of quality education is the government’s highest priority during a meeting with a delegation of representatives from the United Kingdom’s leading universities. The delegation, led by Sir Steve Smith, met with the Prime Minister in Islamabad today.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Sharif underscored that the federal government is actively working with provincial governments to ensure that all children have access to education. He mentioned the establishment of an Education Endowment Fund at the federal level, modeled after a similar initiative in Punjab, aimed at supporting educational opportunities for all children.
Referring to Pakistan-UK relations, the Prime Minister noted that the ties between the two countries span over several decades and continue to grow stronger. He highlighted the potential for the UK to contribute to the training and capacity-building of Pakistani teachers, suggesting that educational partnerships could further strengthen the bilateral relationship.
The delegation from the UK briefed the Prime Minister about ongoing coordination and cooperation between Pakistan and the UK in the higher education sector, indicating a shared commitment to advancing educational quality and accessibility.
