Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Urges Unified Action to Eliminate Malaria, Islamabad

Islamabad, In a call for national solidarity, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged all stakeholders to consolidate efforts to eradicate malaria, marking World Malaria Day with a push for enhanced healthcare collaboration and accessibility.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in his address, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of a combined approach involving healthcare professionals, organizations, and citizens to strengthen health systems and increase access to quality malaria diagnosis and treatment. He highlighted the need for rigorous political commitment and strategic investments to achieve a malaria-free world.

The Prime Minister pointed out the role of research and academic institutions in propagating scientific advancements to experts and the public, urging international partners and organizations to scale up their malaria control initiatives. The Ministry of National Health Services and Coordination has played a pivotal role through the Common Management Unit Malaria, in partnership with national and international stakeholders, to expand free malaria testing and treatment across endemic districts.

Despite progress in malaria control, the Prime Minister noted that sustaining these achievements is a significant challenge and stressed that quality malaria treatment should be freely available to everyone, directly at their doorstep.
