Punjab Cabinet Launches Key Development Projects in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA, The Punjab Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, convened its 32nd meeting in Gujranwala, announcing several major initiatives for the city’s development, as reported by Zameen.com on November 22. The meeting marked a significant step in the region’s infrastructural and educational advancement.

According to Zameen.com, the cabinet unveiled four major projects for Gujranwala. These include the establishment of a new vegetable market and Guwala Colony, as well as the construction of 24 additional classrooms for DPS Gujranwala. Additionally, the development of two model graveyards in the city and the establishment of a Punjab University campus in Daska were also approved.

During the meeting, Gujranwala Division Commissioner Naveed Haider Shirazi presented an overview of ongoing public welfare projects in the division. A key decision made by the Cabinet was to set the minimum support price for wheat at PKR 4,000 per maund. This decision is aimed at providing relief to farmers and addressing their financial concerns.

Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi also reviewed the progress on the construction of a two-way road connecting Gujranwala with the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway. He acknowledged the significant progress made on the project, noting that 65% of the work and nearly 100% of the earthwork for the 15.2 km long link road have been completed. This road is expected to enhance connectivity and boost economic activity in the region.

The meeting and the subsequent announcements underscore the Punjab Cabinet’s commitment to the development and welfare of Gujranwala and its surrounding areas. These initiatives reflect the government’s focus on improving infrastructure, education, and public services in the region.
