Punjab Health Ministers Lead Dengue Virus Technical Working Group

Lahore, Provincial Health Ministers Khawaja Imran Nazir and Khawaja Salman Rafiq chaired a critical session of the Technical Working Group on Dengue Virus at the Institute of Public Health, aimed at enhancing measures to combat the spread of the virus across the region.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the meeting gathered top health experts including Dean Institute of Public Health Professor Dr. Zarfashan Tahir, and representatives from the WHO, to deliberate on the current challenges and preventive strategies against dengue. The discussions focused on gathering expert opinions and formulating preemptive strategies to control the virus before the peak dengue season.

Minister Khawaja Salman Rafiq highlighted the collaborative efforts required from all stakeholders to address this public health challenge effectively. He praised the previous leadership’s efforts under Mian Shahbaz Sharif for significantly controlling the virus and emphasized the ongoing need for robust fieldwork to manage the disease. Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir called for actionable suggestions from experts to fortify the province’s response to the dengue threat, signaling a stringent stance against any slack or bogus performance in dengue prevention activities.
