Quetta Bans Passengers on Bus Roofs to Enhance Safety

Quetta: In a new safety directive, the office of the Commissioner Quetta Division has issued a circular to end the practice of passengers traveling on the roofs of buses. This measure aims to curb the risks associated with this dangerous practice, enhancing passenger safety across the city.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the circular involves key transportation officials including the secretary of the Provincial Transport Authority, Deputy Commissioner Quetta, Secretary Regional Transport Authority, and the Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) in Quetta. They are tasked with ensuring that transporters comply with the new directive to discontinue booking passengers for roof travel on buses.

The mandate underscores the administration’s commitment to safety, stipulating strict actions against transport terminals and bus conductors who fail to adhere to the directive. This decision is part of broader efforts to improve road safety and regulate public transport standards in the region.
