Recent Rains Span Across Punjab, Water Levels Stable

Lahore: Rain was recorded in several cities across Punjab, including Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, Sheikhupura, Lahore, Joharabad, Attock, Chakwal, Faisalabad, Sialkot, and Okara, in the past 24 hours. Despite the widespread rainfall, the water flow in all rivers and barrages in the region remains at normal levels, with key dams holding steady water percentages.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the water levels in major dams are being closely monitored. Mangala Dam is currently at 56% capacity, while Tarbela Dam holds 68%. Additionally, the water levels in Indian dams on the rivers Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi have reached up to 37%. The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has completed preparations for potential floods in vulnerable districts, with DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia confirming that both the PDMA control room and district emergency operation centers are actively monitoring the situation around the clock.

The public is urged to exercise caution during the rainy season, particularly advising against unnecessary travel and contact with electrical installations during adverse weather conditions. In emergencies, the PDMA helpline 1129 is available to provide assistance.
