Religious tourism to help promote country’s soft image: Ramesh

Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Task Force for Gandhara Tourism Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani says religious tourism in Pakistan will help promote the country’s soft image.

Addressing a news conference in Islamabad today, he said the international “Gandhara Symposium” was successful and it will promote peace, interfaith harmony and friendly atmosphere for the tourists in the country.

He said a draft of “Takshashila Declaration” was shared with monks which aims at exploring windows to promote Gandhara art and tourism.

Dr Ramesh Kumar said a web portal www.gandhara.gov.pk has been established to facilitate tourists desiring to visit Gandhara archeological sites in Pakistan. He said this portal will help tourists to expedite the visa process.

He said the Chairman Higher Education Commission has been tasked to urge students of different universities to write thesis on the Gandhara art.
