Islamabad: Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, the Chief Whip in the Senate, met with Md. Iqbal Hussain Khan, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Pakistan, at the Senate Secretariat, highlighting a mutual desire to enhance bilateral relations between the two nations.
According to a statement by Senate of Pakistan, Senator Mandviwalla expressed his intent to move beyond past challenges and focus on rebuilding ties. High Commissioner Khan underscored Bangladesh’s interest in exploring the Pakistani market, particularly in textiles, cotton, fruits, and tea. However, he pointed out the absence of active flights between the two countries as a barrier to achieving this goal.
In response, Senator Mandviwalla assured that Pakistani airlines would be eager to initiate flight services to Bangladesh, suggesting the possibility of a weekly flight. Furthermore, he encouraged engagement with local chambers of commerce in cities like Karachi and Sialkot to enhance economic collaboration.
The meeting concluded with Senator Mandviwalla reaffirming his commitment to strengthening economic and bilateral ties through increased cooperation.
