Karachi, Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, engaged in critical discussions with the World Bank Country Director, Mr. Najy Benhassine, to assess and expedite the progress of 13 key development projects across the province, with a collective budget of $3.2 billion. The meeting underscored the strategic importance of these initiatives, which span sectors such as transportation, waste management, water and sewerage, solar energy, education, health, agriculture, and flood rehabilitation, in fostering sustainable development and improving public services in Sindh.
According to Chief Minister Sindh, significant emphasis was placed on removing bottlenecks to ensure the timely completion of these projects. The discussions highlighted the Karachi Mobility project for the Yellow Line BRT, aiming to enhance urban transport infrastructure, and the Competitive and Liveable City of Karachi (CLICK) project, focused on improving urban governance and the business environment.
Other notable projects discussed include the Solid Waste Emergency and Efficiency Project (SWEEP), aimed at addressing Karachi’s urgent waste management needs, and the Karachi Water and Sewerage Services Improvement Project (KWSSIP), which seeks to overhaul the city’s water services. Additionally, the Sindh Solar Energy Project (SSEP) aims to boost solar power generation, while health and education initiatives like the Sindh Integrated Health and Population Project (SIHPP) and Sindh Early Learning Enhancement through Classroom Transformation (SELECT) aim to improve the quality of life for Sindh’s residents.
The meeting also covered the Sindh Water and Agriculture Transformation Project (SWAT) and the Sindh Flood Emergency Rehabilitation Project (SFERP), which are crucial for the province’s recovery from natural disasters and for promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
