Karachi, In a significant move to support differently-abled persons, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah distributed cheques totaling Rs71.252 million to various NGOs dedicated to this cause. The funds are earmarked for procuring assistive devices aimed at improving the quality of life for differently-abled individuals across the province.
According to Chief Minister Sindh, the distribution ceremony took place at CM House, with key figures such as Secretary to CM Raheem Shaikh, and Tauha Farooqi, Secretary of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD), in attendance. The event highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance accessibility and empowerment for differently-abled persons through both financial support and the establishment of rehabilitation centers.
The NGOs receiving funds include the Ida Rieu Welfare Association, which was allocated Rs29.135 million, and other organizations such as the JS Academy of Noor-e-Ali Trust and the Marie Adelaide Leprosy Centre. These funds are intended to facilitate a range of services from education and rehabilitation to direct support for individuals requiring assistive technologies.
