Lahore, In an ambitious move to combat environmental challenges, the Punjab province witnessed the launch of its largest tree plantation campaign yet, initiated by Provincial Minister Malik Soheb Ahmad Bharath in Changa Manga forest, following directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. This groundbreaking event saw 13,000 students and teachers setting a record by planting 190,000 saplings in just one minute, marking a significant stride towards the “Green Punjab” vision laid out by the Chief Minister.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the campaign covered an impressive area of 90 acres, with a total of one lakh nine thousand saplings planted. The inauguration was attended by Deputy Commissioner Kasur Muhammad Arshad Bhatti, among other administrative and district officials, underlining the collective effort and dedication towards environmental conservation in the province.

Provincial Minister Malik Soheb Ahmad Bharath emphasized the critical role of every citizen in ensuring the success of the “Plant a tree for Pakistan” initiative. He highlighted the importance of tree plantation in mitigating air pollution, environmental pollution, and greenhouse gases, thus providing a healthier environment for future generations. Bharath pointed out the significant impact of plantation on controlling the Earth’s temperature and climatic changes.

Further, Bharath disclosed plans for ongoing plantation activities across Punjab, in collaboration with the forest department, aimed at greening streets and neighborhoods. He assured that the Punjab government is tirelessly working towards increasing tree cover and tackling air pollution, demonstrating a robust commitment to environmental sustainability and public health.

This large-scale tree plantation initiative represents a crucial step forward in Punjab’s efforts to address global environmental challenges and contribute to a healthier, greener Pakistan.
