Srinagar, In anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, Srinagar, the capital of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, has been declared a Red Zone for drone and quadcopter activities. This precautionary measure aims to tighten security and surveillance in the region during the high-profile visit.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the enforcement of this restriction falls under Rule 24(2) of the Drone Rules, 2021, and has been put into immediate effect by the Indian police. The police have issued a warning that all unauthorized drone operations within the designated Red Zone will be subject to penalties as laid out in the Drone Rules, 2021. The authorities have appealed for the cooperation of the public to ensure compliance with these temporary security measures.
The implementation of such stringent drone restrictions juxtaposes with Prime Minister Modi’s ongoing peace initiatives in the territory, especially following the controversial revocation of Article 370, which has been a point of contention and unrest in the region.
