Three Brothers Killed, Cousin Injured in Faisalabad Police Custody Incident

Faisalabad: Three brothers were killed and their cousin injured in an incident at Tandlianwala Police Station in Faisalabad, prompting the Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, to seek a report from the Regional Police Officer (RPO) Faisalabad. Following the incident, six suspects were detained as part of the investigation.

According to Punjab Police, the killings were linked to a longstanding enmity, with the deceased being accused of involvement in the murder of members of the Kharal community. Usman, Nasir, and their cousin Asif had been arrested by the City Tandlianwala Police in connection with a murder and terrorism case. Due to safety concerns stemming from their enmity, they were held in the Saddar Tandlianwala Police Station instead of the City Police Station.

Early on the morning of the incident, unknown assailants reportedly entered the police station by climbing a ladder from the rear wall. A security constable opened fire upon seeing them, leading to an exchange of gunfire that resulted in the deaths of the three brothers from the Sukhera community and injuries to Asif, who managed to flee the scene while firing.

In response to the attack, CPO Kamran Adil and senior officers arrived at the site with a large contingent of police. Dr. Usman Anwar has formed an inquiry committee headed by DIG Intelligence Special Branch Faisal Ali Raja to investigate the incident. AIG Operations Punjab Zahid Nawaz Marwat and AIG Complaints Ehsan Ullah Chauhan are members of the committee, which aims to identify those responsible for the attack and any negligence in security. The committee has been tasked with submitting a report on the incident.
