Transparency Emphasized in Selection for China’s Agricultural Training

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has mandated that transparency and merit be prioritized in selecting students for agricultural training in China.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister chaired a meeting in Islamabad where he underscored the need for a transparent application process and the formation of a committee to address complaints from students who do not meet the selection criteria.

The government will cover all expenses for the training, and the first group of students is set to leave for China soon. A special quota of ten percent has been reserved for students from Balochistan, reflecting a commitment to inclusivity in this educational opportunity.

The Prime Minister highlighted China’s role as a longstanding ally and acknowledged its achievements in agriculture. He thanked Chinese leadership and educational institutions for facilitating this training.

The meeting revealed that 711 out of 1,287 applicants met the criteria for participation, with representation from Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan. The students will be dispatched in two groups, with the first batch of 300 students departing in March to engage in training across various agricultural disciplines.

The second batch, comprising 400 students, is scheduled for dispatch mid-year. Their training will focus on advanced agricultural machinery, rapid crop growth techniques, and the integration of modern technology, such as artificial intelligence.
