Turkish Consul General Visits PCJCCI, Discusses Trilateral Relations with Pakistan and China

Islamabad, Consul General of the Republic of Turkiye, visited the Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) to discuss the potential for trilateral relations between Turkiye, Pakistan, and China. The meeting saw participation from executive committee members of the PCJCCI and leading business figures from both Pakistan and China.

According to Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the meeting focused on ways to enhance trade and economic ties among the three countries. Moazzam Ghurki, President of the PCJCCI, emphasized that Pakistan, Turkiye, and China, as brotherly nations, have the potential to complement each other’s economies in various sectors. He highlighted that Pakistan has expanded its market presence in both traditional sectors like leather, rice, and sports goods, and non-traditional sectors including seafood and engineering goods.

Mr. Durmus shared that Turkiye and Pakistan enjoy strong bilateral relations that need to be transformed into growing business ties for mutual economic benefits. He pointed out the current trade volume of around 1.2 billion dollars between Turkiye and Pakistan, which is significantly lower than its potential. He expressed a goal to increase this trade volume to 5 billion dollars in the coming years. He also noted that half of Turkish investments in Pakistan, amounting to around 2 billion dollars, are in the Punjab region, with more than 15 Turkish companies operating in various fields there.

Salahuddin Hanif, Secretary General of the PCJCCI, highlighted the strategic importance of the Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul train project. He mentioned that the journey from Islamabad to Istanbul city, spanning 6,540 km, takes only ten days compared to the 21 days needed for the equivalent sea voyage. This project is seen as pivotal not just for freight purposes but also for boosting tourism between the three countries. Hanif also emphasized PCJCCI’s commitment to enhancing regional connectivity by improving bilateral and trilateral trade relations.

The meeting at the PCJCCI Secretariat marks a significant step towards strengthening economic and trade relationships between Turkiye, Pakistan, and China, reflecting the collaborative spirit of these nations.
