World Immunization Week Campaign Kicks Off in Washik with Awareness Walk

Washik, A walk was organized in Sibsima to mark the start of the World Immunization Week Awareness Campaign, which runs from April 24 to April 30, 2024. The walk, led by Deputy District Health Officer Washik Dr. Inayatullah Isazai and DSV Washik Abdul Jalil, began at Civil Hospital and concluded at the Benazir Nishonma office. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of vaccinations in preventing life-threatening diseases.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the walk included participation from school students, lady health workers, staff from Civil Hospital Basima, and vaccinators. During the event, speakers emphasized the critical role of vaccines in safeguarding children’s health, noting that during this campaign, children under the age of 2 will be vaccinated against 12 diseases, while pregnant women will be vaccinated against tetanus.

The speakers highlighted the importance of timely vaccinations, stating that Pakistan has some of the best vaccines available to combat these 12 diseases. They added that regular vaccinations in children could significantly reduce mortality rates and save lives. Dr. Inayatullah Isazai noted that vaccinations are provided consistently at all government health centers, including Civil Hospital, to ensure that children and pregnant women receive the necessary immunizations.

World Immunization Week is a global campaign aiming to raise awareness and increase the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages from diseases. The awareness walk in Sibsima reflects efforts to educate the public about the benefits of vaccinations and encourage community participation in health initiatives.
