Ambassador Hashmi Highlights Agricultural Collaboration During Visit to Shouguang, China

Shouguang, China Ambassador Khalil Hashmi, on his orientation tour of Shandong, visited Shouguang county, recognized as China’s “vegetable capital.” His visit included delivering remarks at the 25th China (Shouguang) International Vegetable Science and Technology Expo, where he emphasized the importance of agricultural innovation and international cooperation.

According to Press Information Department, during his one-day tour, Ambassador Hashmi explored the expo, visiting the Pakistan pavilion and interacting with various stakeholders. He praised Shouguang’s leadership in vegetable production and its status as a global center of excellence in facility vegetables. The ambassador highlighted the robust agricultural ties between China and Pakistan, which he described as foundational to their bilateral relations. He discussed Pakistan’s agricultural sector as a significant contributor to its GDP and employment and expressed commitment to enhancing productivity through partnerships with Chinese entities.

Ambassador Hashmi pointed to the upcoming Food and Agri Expo in August 2024 as a pivotal event for furthering collaboration, where China will be honored. He invited stakeholders, experts, businessmen, and investors to engage with Pakistan’s agricultural sector. His discussions with Shouguang’s municipal leadership focused on expanding cooperation through investments, joint ventures, and institutional mechanisms, reinforcing the longstanding partnership between the two nations.
