Ambassadors-Designate to Belgium, Serbia and Japan calls on Prime Minister

Islamabad, October 01, 2012 (PPI-OT): Mr. Munawar Saeed Bhatti, Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to Belgium, Mr. Ghulam Fareed Farrukh, Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to Serbia and Mr. Farrukh Amil, Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to Japan called on Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf separately at the Prime Minister’s House this morning.

While talking to Mr. Munawar Saeed Bhatti, the Prime Minister said that Brussels being the headquarters of European Union is an important capital and expressed the hope that the Ambassador-designate will work to enhance cooperation between Pakistan and the European Union.

The Prime Minister appreciated the gesture of the European Union to grant Pakistan GSP plus facility in the wake of the floods that struck Pakistan in 2010.

The Prime Minister stressed on the need to continue engagement with European Union, is one of the biggest trade partners of Pakistan so that economic and trade relations could be further enhanced. This, the Prime Minister said, would greatly help the economy of Pakistan.

Talking to Mr. Ghulam Fareed Farrukh, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan seeks to enhance bilateral trade with Serbia since there is a potential to increase trade between both the countries.

Talking to Mr. Farrukh Amil, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan regards Japan as an important friend and development partner.

The Prime Minister directed the Ambassador-designate to Japan to engage the media in Japan for further improving the image of Pakistan. He also directed the Ambassador-designate to redouble his efforts to attract Japanese tourists to Pakistan.

The Prime Minister also impressed upon the need to invite Japanese investments in Pakistan specially in the energy sector.

The Prime Minister congratulated the Ambassadors designate on their appointment and wished them success in their new assignments.
