APHC Raises Alarm Over Deterioration of Human Rights in IIOJK

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has voiced serious concerns over the escalating human rights situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, citing widespread detentions and intrusive military operations by Indian forces.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Abdul Rashid Minhas detailed the extent of the operations, noting that Indian troops, along with paramilitary and police units, have been conducting extensive cordon and search operations. These have led to the detention and interrogation of numerous Kashmiris across a swath of districts including Srinagar, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Kupwara, Baramulla, Kulgam, Shopian, Kathua, Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, and Samba. Minhas emphasized that these actions have inflicted considerable distress and mental trauma on the local populace, exacerbating an already tense environment.

Minhas criticized the Indian government’s approach, accusing it of converting the disputed territory into a heavily militarized zone and attempting to suppress the Kashmiri demand for freedom through force and propaganda. He reiterated that the heavy military presence and repressive measures have not quelled the region’s aspirations for autonomy and have only intensified the humanitarian concerns in the area.
