Planning Minister Reviews Progress on Pakistan-China Agreed Projects

Islamabad: A follow-up meeting on the Prime Minister’s recent visit to China was chaired by Planning Minister Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, focusing on the implementation of agreed-upon projects between Pakistan and China.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting involved high-level officials including Secretary Planning Mr. Awais Manzur Sumra, and representatives from various ministries and the CPEC Secretariat. Discussions centered on significant initiatives such as Huawei’s commitment to train 200,000 Pakistani students, the operationalization of university computer labs as training academies, and the preparation of a comprehensive national digitalization strategy under the Digital Pakistan Initiative.

Specific directives were issued for enhancing agricultural and IT skills training, involving private sector feedback, and utilizing higher education resources effectively. Additionally, the meeting addressed the solarization of tube wells, a move expected to reduce diesel consumption and enhance environmental sustainability. The National Highway Authority also briefed on infrastructure projects, emphasizing the importance of the Realignment of KKH Phase II and other collaborative efforts under the CPEC framework.
