Islamabad: On World Population Day, President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized the critical need for sustainable population management to address the socio-economic challenges posed by Pakistan’s rapid population growth.
According to Press Information Department, President Zardari highlighted the urgency of aligning Pakistan’s resources with its burgeoning population, which is projected to reach 263 million by 2030 and 383 million by 2050. He stressed the impact of population growth on national resources, including water scarcity and food security, and called for enhanced family planning and reproductive health services to achieve a sustainable population balance. The President invoked the national narrative of ‘Tawazun’, advocating for voluntary family planning to ensure that children’s fundamental rights are met. He urged all stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and the private sector, to collaborate on addressing these population challenges and emphasized the importance of inclusive data for informed policy-making and better health outcomes.
