Islamabad: Pakistan Peoples Party’s Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has issued a stern warning to India by stating that any attack on the Indus River would be perceived as an assault on Pakistan’s heritage, particularly that of Sindh. This declaration underscores the deep cultural and historical significance of the Indus River to the nation.
According to Radio Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari made these remarks during the closing ceremony of the three-day Urs celebrations of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai in Bhit Shah, Matiari district. He emphasized the critical importance of the Indus River as the primary water resource for the people of Pakistan and highlighted its historical connection to the ancient Indus Valley civilization.
Bilawal also reflected on his family’s longstanding devotion to Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, expressing his honor in attending the Urs celebrations for a second time. He fondly recalled that his grandfather, former Prime Minister and PPP’s founding Chairman Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, his mother, former Prime Minister and PPP’s Chairperson Benazir Bhutto Shaheed, and his father, President Asif Ali Zardari, had all visited the shrine in the past.
During the event, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari distributed Lateef awards to outstanding performers. He paid his respects at the shrine of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai and enjoyed a musical rendition by Shah Jo Ragis, who perform Shah’s poetry accompanied by the traditional Dambur instrument.
Earlier, the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah also delivered a speech during the awards ceremony.
