Bagh Seminar Criticizes Indian PM Modi’s Kashmir Policies

Bagh, A significant seminar at Post Graduate College in Bagh, organized by Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, voiced strong opposition to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Jammu and Kashmir. The event highlighted local discontent with Indian policies in the region and paid homage to Kashmiri figures recognized as martyrs by the attendees.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the seminar titled “Modi’s hands are stained with blood” was led by Principal Professor Yasir Arafat Abbasi and featured Pasban-e-Hurriyat Chairman Uzair Ahmed Ghazali as the chief guest. Several faculty members and numerous students participated, expressing their dissent against Modi’s administration and its actions in Kashmir.

Uzair Ahmed Ghazali criticized Modi’s inability to win the support of Kashmiri people, accusing him of undermining their identity and rights, particularly referencing the controversial revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status on August 5, 2019. He argued that the Modi government manipulated legal institutions to further its agenda against the Kashmiri populace.

Participants of the seminar denounced India’s military presence and governance in Kashmir, asserting a widespread rejection of Indian rule. Vice Chairman Usman Ali Hashim characterized Modi as a figure of oppression, emphasizing the region’s history of resistance and the sacrifices made in pursuit of self-determination.

The event served as a platform for communal memory and resistance, honoring the legacy of figures like Burhan Wani, Maqbool Butt, and others seen as martyrs in the Kashmiri struggle. It also underscored the resilience and ongoing opposition within Kashmir to Indian policies perceived as injustices against its people.

The seminar reflected the deep-seated tensions between Kashmiri activists and the Indian government, illustrating the profound divisions and enduring conflict over the region’s future and identity.
