Balochistan Enhances Support for Disabled with New Initiatives and Wheelchair Distribution

Quetta, The Government of Balochistan, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has reinforced its commitment to improving the lives of disabled persons through significant legal protections and practical support measures, including the distribution of electric wheelchairs.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, at an electric wheelchair distribution ceremony, Shabir Ahmed Badini, the Director General of Social Welfare, emphasized the government’s dedication to securing all fundamental rights for disabled individuals. The event, which was also attended by UNDP’s Provincial Head Zulfiqar Durrani and other officials, highlighted ongoing initiatives to enhance the quality of life for disabled persons, including employment quotas, free education, and health services.

Durrani pointed out that addressing the challenges faced by disabled persons is a top priority for the regional government. Amjad Lashari, the Director of Social Welfare, noted the profound impact of distributing wheelchairs and reaffirmed the department’s mission to serve and uplift the community.
