Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif Initiates Construction of Garment City in Quaid-e-Azam Business Park

Lahore, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the construction of Garment City Plug and Play at Quaid-e-Azam Business Park, a strategic move aimed at boosting employment and empowering women in the region. This decision is part of a broader effort to address the needs of the business community and stimulate economic development in Punjab.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the Chief Minister ordered the completion of the connecting road to the business park within a month to facilitate access. The establishment of Garment City is expected to create approximately 100,000 jobs and serve as a model for industry standards in the province. In her remarks, Chief Minister Sharif highlighted the project’s alignment with efforts to enhance export growth and economic development.

During her visit, Chief Minister Sharif also reviewed proposals for additional infrastructure developments within the business park, including a labor colony and a technical training center, which are intended to support the growing workforce. She directed immediate action on several key initiatives: a massive tree plantation drive within the park’s premises and the construction of a motorway interchange to improve accessibility.

Further addressing security concerns in the area, Chief Minister Sharif summoned the Regional Police Officer of Sheikhupura to discuss law and order challenges, giving a 10-day deadline for noticeable improvements. Her proactive approach underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring a safe and conducive environment for business operations.

The event also saw the participation of notable political and industrial figures, including Senator Pervez Rasheed, Provincial Information Minister Uzma Zahid Bukhari, and prominent industrialist Khawaja Jalaluddin Rumi, who collectively underscored the significance of the new developments for Punjab’s industrial landscape.
