New Delhi, In a decisive move, the Indian government has terminated a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) from service following allegations of sexual misconduct. This action underscores a significant step in addressing misconduct within India’s largest paramilitary force.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the dismissal order for DIG Khajan Singh, who previously served as a sports officer, was issued on May 30 by the President of India’s office, taking effect from May 31. The termination follows a series of administrative procedures including two show-cause notices that were issued after thorough investigations by the CRPF and subsequent reviews by the Indian Public Service Commission and the home ministry.
The investigations into Singh began after complaints from female personnel within the CRPF. The internal probe by the CRPF’s committee found Singh guilty of the charges, which led to the recommendation for his dismissal. The CRPF headquarters accepted these findings and forwarded the case for further action, culminating in the final dismissal order.
The case involved accusations in two separate incidents, marking a serious breach of conduct expected of high-ranking officials in security forces.
