Deadly Shooting Rampage on Delhi Flyover Leaves Police Officer Dead, One Injured


New Delhi, A tragic incident unfolded on a busy flyover in northeast Delhi today, where an assailant shot dead an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Special Branch of the Delhi Police and wounded a passerby before taking his own life.



According to Kashmir Media Service, the violence erupted when 44-year-old Mukesh embarked on a shooting spree, resulting in the death of ASI Dinesh Sharma and injuries to Amit Kumar, a bystander. The assailant then committed suicide, ending the sudden and brief outburst of violence.



ASI Sharma was on his motorcycle traversing the Meet Nagar Flyover when he was fatally shot. The circumstances of the attack are still being investigated, but initial reports suggest a sudden and unprovoked assault.



Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast), Joy Tirkey, provided further details of the incident, stating that after the initial shooting, the assailant, Mukesh, attempted to hijack an auto-rickshaw. When the driver resisted, Mukesh fired at him but missed. Mukesh then fatally shot himself in the head while seated in the back of the auto-rickshaw.



The injured bystander, Amit Kumar, is currently receiving medical treatment in a local hospital. The motives behind Mukesh’s violent actions remain unclear, and authorities have opened a case of murder and attempted murder as they continue to investigate this heinous act.
